Okay. So I decided to make this my very first blog post because it's something that I used to see see ALL THE TIME. I would read these kinds of posts daily back when I was using social media. Girls tweet, post on FB & Instagram all the time about the guy they want, and most of them are much like this photo.
WELL GUESS WHAT? I hate when these kinds of things get posted. When I Google search the phrase, "I want a guy..." I find countless images all much like the one I have shared. When I search, "I want a girl..." I only found one image and it said, "I want a girl who will change my life, not just my relationship status." It's obvious that girls' expectations vrs guy's expectations are ridiculously contrast. If guys posted, "I want a girl..." stuff all the time, women would freak. "How dare he put so much expectation on a girl!" Well, if we can do it to them why can't they do it to us?
According to my 20 year old brother, "Guys want a girl who loves him and doesn't make him feel horribly." His girlfriend is just that sort of girl.
We girls are so greedy with what we want. Now, I'm not saying we shouldn't have standards because we definitely should. But being so needy and specific like this? It's gotten way out of hand. In these "I want a guy images..." I see very superficial things. "Who can wrestle with me and let me win," "who will kiss me in the rain." Sure, those things are cute. But what about a guy who respects you as a woman, person and friend? What about a guy who loves you despite your flaws? What about a guy who is loving to his family, to his friends and his authority? WHAT ABOUT A GUY WHO LOVES JESUS WITH HIS ENTIRE LIFE. Where did THESE morals, values and standards go? I'm going to give you my own "I want a guy..." list to show you that not all girls expect to be kissed in the snow or be called beautiful all the time.
I want a guy...
Who wants my relationship with Christ to be the most important thing in my life
Who puts Christ at the center of his life in every way shape and form
Who has a desire to love others more than he loves himself
and who has a genuine desire to serve God in all areas of his life.
I think we need to focus on things that are more important than wearing a guy's sweatshirts.
