This is for my fellow single brothers and sisters. Let me just start off by saying, if you've never read 1 Corinthians 7, click on this link and give it a good read through. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%207
What Paul is saying here is this, IT'S OKAY TO BE SINGLE. In fact, he is saying that he wishes more people were.
Being single isn't a waiting station, but the more you believe that it is, the less joy you will glean. It's a simple fact, as a person in a relationship, your mind will be consumed with the things of your significant other, and then farther down the road, your families. When you're single, you have so many opportunities to serve Christ. There are ABSOLUTELY still opportunities as a person in a relationship, but as a society, we look so down upon the idea of being single.
Let's just get something straight, if you think you need a boyfriend or a girlfriend, you're not READY for a boyfriend or a girlfriend. Jesus Christ should be your first love, and until He is, nobody better be occupying your heart. Proverbs 4:23 says that we are to guard our hearts will all dilligence. By opening your heart up to multiple people in a mad quest for love, you're actually just asking for your heart to get trampled on. Guarding means that you'll sometimes have to put up a bit of a fight, but if Jesus says it can be done, then it can be done.
As a single person, you have more free time to find ways to get involved for Christ. Viewing your singleness as a gain rather than a loss is something that can radically alter the way you live your life. God has so many special things in store for those that serve him, and we know from the Psalms that Jesus promises to give us the desires of our hearts as we call out upon Him. The special thing is, when we are walking in Christ, everything that He desires will be the same things we desire, because we should only want what Christ has planned.
I urge you if you're single, not to feel like you're alone in the world. Christ promises to use us in such special ways, and to trust in the Lord with all your HEART means that He needs to be the one holding onto it.
May God bless you as you walk faithfully in Him. :)
