As I was sitting here trying to decide what to words to say to express how I feel on the topic of beauty, I began researching the defintions of beautiful. I found results such as this,
beau·ti·fulˈbyo͞otəfəl/
adjective
Then, I typed in to Google, "What is a beautiful woman?" This is the first link that came up :http://www.wikihow.com/Be-a-Truly-Beautiful-Woman. If you take a look at the list, you'll see that in this 24 step guide to being a beautiful woman, number 22 is "Seek God earnestly." Now I just have one question. WHY ON EARTH IS THAT SO FAR DOWN ON THE LIST? So in my quest to discover what true beauty is, I have come to this conclusion. True beauty radiates from a woman who unashamedly and unabashedly knows who she is in Christ. A beautiful woman will exchange a self-focused life for a Christ-serving one; she will emanate Christ-confidence rather than self-confidence. When a person looks at me, as a Christian, I don't want them to see me, I want them to see Jesus Christ shining through me. If I'm not glorifying Jesus with my entire being, then I am wasting my time. True beauty doesn't come from a salon or expensive clothes, it doesn't come from having cute hair or a great figure. Being outwardly attractive but having an ugly heart all in all makes you an ugly woman. I think of the most beautiful ladies I know, and ya know what? They are the people who are serving Christ with their entire lives; they are servants for their Creator. I think if we all stop allowing society's definition of beauty dictate how display ourselves, the entire idea of beauty can be radically altered for the better. We should be putting just as much time into our inward beauty as we do prettying ourselves up on the outside. You can have the most beautiful exterior with the most filthy interior. Your outward apperance is merely a reflection of your heart.
If you're reading this, you were created by someone who knows the very hairs on your heads. He hand-crafted you in His image, and if you think you can make something better of yourself than what He already did, you're better off dead. Allow yourself to have a personal, intimate relationship with your Creator and you will come to know exactly how beautiful He truly made you to be.
May God bless you as you look in the mirror and realize that because your identity is in Christ, His light can radiate throughout of you.
