We all have the life we dream for ourselves. Whether it's to go out and do great things, see amazing sights, raise a really awesome family, or go serve God in missions abroad, you name it, someone is dreaming it. It's incredible when God merges our dreams with His plans and is seemingly giving us a picture perfect life. We often take for granted how lovely our lives really are, living each day expecting Christ to bestow upon us these blessings because we are children of Him so it's what naturally comes. Yes, God does bless. Psalm 68:19 says, Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. God gives us so many benefits each and every day. The hard part is, when God decides to close doors on us, we want to turn and accuse Him of denying us blessings. God in His omniscience KNOWS what's best for us. We see life as a brief snapshot, only focusing on the picture right in front of us, while Him in His magnifying scope of eternity knows what He's doing is paving the way for the life He has led us to. We could be going down a road, feeling like this is the exact road God want us on, when BAM. We are suddenly jolted to the right and the road in front of us is suddenly blocked off. We are no longer able to drive down that road but are forced to start embarking on this new road. Yeah, it's scary because that straight road was safe, it was happy, it was exciting, but it was comfortable. We don't get what was wrong with it. But Christ knows which road we need to go down. It may be a little bit bumpier, but it may be smoother as it goes along. We don't know how much He is blessing us; we can't see how all He is doing might prepare us for an even more extraordinary future. Life hurts because how can we know pleasure without pain? There's a quote a friend of mine shared with me, and it goes like this, "It isn't that God is unfaithful, but rather that He in His sovereignty sees it fit this way for my ultimate best." This convicts me often because when we are confused, we look at God and say "why?" When really we should be saying, "Okay, God. Use this. Prepare me for all the blessings that are going to come from this seemingly hard trial." We accuse God of being unfaithful, when really, He is the only one who can promise eternal faithfulness. Man fails daily to prove our faithfulness, man falls because we are created with a sin nature. God is the One we KNOW will ALWAYS be faithful, 100% of the time.
It's okay to hurt. It's okay to cry. It's okay to take a step back and just have some alone time. But at the end of the day, we are on this earth to give glory to God. Sometimes all you can do is give it to God and go to bed. Each day we are promised benefits beyond our wildest imaginations, because we have rewards laid up in Heaven if we serve Him. Yes, trials on this life are hard. We are forced to take turns down roads that don't necessarily fit our plans. But, God is God no matter what. He is faithful now, He always has been, and He always will be. His faithfulness isn't circumstantial, it's guarenteed. That in itself is enough to get us through.
